4. Choose colours, fonts and graphic wisely

Red stands for power and energy where green communicates peace and progress. Yes every colour has something to communicate. If you observe, brands in food segment use more of red, orange and yellow where IT industry chooses blue. The same way one has to use fonts. There are different types of font series and each font type suits to a particular industry. So do not use the fonts that you personally like but use the one which works for your brand. There are many logo styles like typographic, pictorial, abstract etc. A designer can suggest the best logo style which will suit your company or brand.

5. Creative can be simple

You need to understand that your logo is a medium of communication and not a piece of art only. You are not going to explain the philosophy behind the logo to every consumer so understand that it has to be simple yet creative. A simple stroke of art will do its job if done with a purpose.

Before you design your logo you need to explain the designer about the mediums on which the logo will come. Like if you are running a restaurant or hotel the logo will appear on board, menu, crockery, accessories, website other than your routine stationery. If your logo is a complicated one or full of colours it will be difficult to print on different mediums. If you are making the logo for an app, it has to be simple and minimal.

7. Do I really need to spend on it?

But one need to understand that your logo is the face of your business or brand and it is going to stay forever or for a very long time. It is not a flyer or emailer that will come and go.
